Point of Interest Details

This French Eclectic building was built as an apartment house in 1923 and has been used as such ever since. Its residents have included Cornell faculty and students and other Ithaca businessmen and professionals.

Characteristic features of the style include the dominant steeply-pitched hipped roof, stucco wall cladding, minimal fenestration, and large expanses of unadorned wall surface. A relatively uncommon style in the United States, French Eclectic is most often found in post-WWI suburbs like Cornell Heights.
