This American Foursquare typifies this style of architecture seen within Meridian Park. Constructed in 1911 for Clifford and Flora Barrett, the house exhibits symmetry that is characteristic of the style.

The American Foursquare was a post-Victorian style that shared many features with the Prairie architecture pioneered by Frank Lloyd Wright. The boxy foursquare shape provided roomy interiors for homes on small city lots. Typical characteristics included: two-and-a-half stories in height, four-room floor plans, a large central dormer and a full-width porch with wide stairs. This style first appeared on the housing scene around 1890 and remained popular well into the 1930s.
