This building can into being in 1875. The Wehmeir brothers started as a wholesale flour and retail grocer. !892 to 1910 there were many occupants. Latona Mills coffee and Spices, Iowa Clothing company 2nd floor, saloon and bakery in the basement and finally in 1910 the Palace Theatre. 1914 space was reconstructed to house Buettner Furniture and Carpet Company. Buettner was here until 1985. Charles Buettner was a furniture maker. Charles started his business as a Do-It -Yourself manufacturer. He would sell chair seats , legs and backs to you for 25 cents a part and you put the furniture together. The current occupants are Weird Harolds Music and The Medium art store. It is a store like none other with collections of vinyl and CD music from the past. There is also a pottery and framing business here.
