Information

The arts history of Angad Arts Hotel runs deep. Located in St. Louis' Grand Center, this vibrant arts district is the landmark destination for arts and culture in St. Louis and the Midwest.

The building started as the Missouri Theater in the 1920's, and was one of the largest and most opulent theaters in the nation. The Missouri Theater also featured a dance group called the Missouri Rockets. The dance group moved to New York and became the Radio City Rockettes. The theater eventually closed and was torn down in the 50's.

The building was then converted to a medical buildning which housed doctors, dentists, and the Missouri Department of Health. The building became vacant in the late 90's and was eventurally purchased by Steve Smith of The Lawrence Group.

In 2014, Steve Smith met Angad Paul, a British businessman and film producer. Steve and Angad realized their visions aligned and sought to create a uniquely entertaining environment by embracing and curating diverse experiences, and presenting them in ways that elicit surprise, delight and joy. The friendship between Paul and Smith abruptly ended in 2015, when Angad unexpectedly passed away. It is in his honor that Steve Smith joined with Angad Paul's father, Lord Paul, and built the Angad Arts Hotel.

The words of the hotel's co-founder Angad Paul serve as our mantra...

"What is art but seeing the world in a different way. What is life but a series of experiences connected together." - Angad Paul
