Information

Conley House ~ 14 Church Street

The Conley House was the home of an early Westport boat builder and furniture maker. Perhaps due to its set-back location, this fine home also managed to survive the destruction of the Church Street fires, despite its wooden exterior. The owner’s carpentry skills are evident in the elaborate gingerbread trim which still adorns the building’s exterior. Mr. Conley was also responsible for building his original shop, which houses the Rideau District Museum, located across from Town Hall at 29 Bedford Street.
