The landscape of the garnet trail has moved from oak hammock to lower lying salt marsh. The garnet trail is going to open up into the Pine Island Conservation Area. Where there are two Borrow Lakes home to many types of wildlife. The Pine Island Conservation area is named for the large towering pines that greated traveling pioneers. Sadly many of these trees were deforested and used for pioneer homes and boats. This area is the part of Merritt Island and shares a border with the south portion of NASA property.
