ARCHITECTURE/CULTURE

Jefferson County Public Library is the oldest public library in the state! Orignally founded by Alexander Meek in 1818 with a collection of donated books, the library moved around downtown Madison several times before finally coming to this location in 1929, formerly the Capt. Nathan Powell house, now the library, remnants of the original house can be seen inside of the library. Look closely- you will find them!
