Overlapping landscape perspectives. Printmaking allows Josie to explore and layer information.
Repeating images creates room for experimentation and the ability to push ideas and process.
The traditional methods of intaglio and block printing clarify ideas through a variety of tools, stages, and the magic of the press. The introduction of the encaustic paint allows Josie to color her prints in a painterly way that goes beyond the paper and still maintain transparencies. Land use, maps, contours, and color fields; the weaving layers articulate an interpretation of her environment.
You can wander through Josie's gardens and get some coffee at the cafe. The studio and gallery are in a beautiful colonial cottage and the cafe is in a small horse barn moved from Adamsville.
