Kapoho Tide pools – 7mi (11min) from Lava Tree

Kapoho Tide Pools are considered to be the best snorkeling on the Hilo side. This location is unique for many reasons, one of them is the fact that, it is fed by naturally heated fresh spring water. Bring water shoes. Recommended stay: 1-2hrs.

The tide pools are located in a neighborhood and there is no parking inside, so you park in the visitor parking at Kapoho Dr and Kikiao St, and it’s about a 10min walk, about 1/3 of a mile to the tidepools. Most people enter into the tidepools on Waiopae Rd, but you can also enter the deepest and largest pools from the Trail of Wonder, at the end of Kapoho Kai Dr.
