Northern Catalpas (Catalpa speciosa) are highly adaptable species, grow rapidly, but are a short-lived species. They are Grandma Spaulding's absolute favorite on the property as it has heart-shaped, smooth leaves.

This species prefers part shade and grows best in deep, rich, moist soils.
