Information

1415 Linden Drive

Built in 1930

This building was originally the site of the Wisconsin orthopedics hospital, which opened in 1931. The hospital operations moved to a new hospital and clinics facility in the 1970s, and the building was designated for use by the Department of Nutritional Sciences. The department’s widely dispersed faculty moved to the building following an extensive renovation in 1982. The stained glass in the foyer, entitled “Universal Health through Nutrition,” by artist Robert Danner, depicts the contributions Wisconsin scientists have made to the identification of and requirements for nutrients. Today, nutritional sciences investigators examine the roles diet plays in modulating human conditions, including obesity, inborn errors of metabolism, cancer, heart disease, vision loss, and osteoporosis and food security. The department offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in dietetics and nutritional sciences.
