“Phra Boromathat Chedi” is an impressively Thai-style stupa on a hill near Mae Salong village. It was built in honour of the late Princess Mother, Srinagarindra, who was a great patron and benefactor of the area. Next to the chedi is the Princess Mother Hall, a modern, Thai-style pavilion which looks like a temple in appearance, but does not contain any religious objects. From the platforms around the chedi, there are good views across town and west towards Myanmar from the top. We recommend that, after visiting the Phra Boromathat Chedi, you walk downhill by foot on the 719-step staircase to Wat Santikiri to reach the centre of Mae Salong.
In our video you can watch the monk of the Temple talking about the different elements that form Mae Salong's cultural heritage.
