Information

Temescal Creek disappears into a culvert under the intersection of 51st and Telegraph. A culvert is a structure that allows water to flow under a road, railroad, trail, or similar obstruction from one side to the other. Today, a currently vacant lot hides the water flowing 15 feet below. While the lot might not look like much, the area boasts a rich history. A Huichan village once stood a stone’s throw away from this spot, with an important sweat lodge. Many years later, this area featured a green space called Humbolt Park. Today, there is an ongoing discussion to determine what will stand here next.
