Marcelino Serna and Cleofas Calleros are two forgotten heroes in El Paso. They both were veterans and war heroes that the community never get to hear about. In this tour, I will take you around El Paso and show you places that meant a lot to these men and their families. You will see their homes, jobs where they are buried, and lastly where their legacy is continuing.

After graduating from Sacred Heart School he was unable to attend high school and began working at the El Paso Dairy Company. He began working at a young age to try and help his family financially. Following his time at the dairy company, h... Read more
In 1930 Cleofas reported living at this residence with his wife and daughter. This is where he sent the rest of his life before passing away on February 22, 1973. 
After returning from war Marcelino worked here at the Peyton Packing company as a driver before getting a job at Fort Bliss. This company no longer operates in El Paso and the location that Marcelino would have worked at is now considered ... Read more
Marcelino lived her during the 1930-1940s census. He lived here with his wife Simona, daughter Gloria, and nephew Juan. 
After serving in the war Marcelino spent the rest of his life working as a truck driver for the city, at Fort bliss as a civil service employee, and at Beaumont hospital. He worked as a plumber for Beaumont until he retired in 1961.  ...
After passing in 1973, Cleofas was buried at Fort Bliss National Cemetary. He is resting on Section I Site 2935. 
Marcelino died on February 29, 1992 at the age of 95. He was buried at Fort Bliss National Cemetery following his passing. 
After coming back from the war Cleofas began to dive into writing. He wrote about the history of West Texas. After his passing in 1973, his daughter donated his papers to the University of Texas at El Paso Special Collections and Archives.... Read more
