# 9 - Mrs. Whittaker

Information

Mrs. Whittaker who lived in Wysox in May 20, 1778 was captured by the Seneca and

taken prisoner to Tioga Point. They gave her and the other prisoners to Butler’s rangers,

composed of Indians and British soldiers. She was about 11 years old.

She was witness to the war party leaving for Wyoming for the battle that occurred on July 3,

1778.
