15A. Weeping Alaskan Cedar (Chamaecyparis noot-katensis ‘Pendula’) An elegant pyramidal evergreen with weeping branches &bluish-green foliage, native to Pacific Northwest. In the wild it can grow 100 feet tall, whereas in gardens it usually tops out at 35 feet and half as wide.
15B. Western larch (Larix occidentalis) A deciduous conifer native to the mountains of western North America. Very large, fast-growing, long-lived and pyramidal in shape. Bright green needle-like leaves turn gold in autumn before they fall. The largest specimen—located at Seeley Lake, Montana—is over 1000 years old. Also known as Tamarack.
