As a freshman at Cornell University from 1940 to 1941, Kurt Vonnegut (1922-2007) boarded here at 109 Williams Street. After dropping out in 1943, Vonnegut become an enormously successful novelist, whose fourteen novels include Player Piano (1952), Cat's Cradle (1963), and Slaughterhouse-Five (1969).
