1135 Jay Street / Charles and Sue Roitz House / Architect: Charles Haertling / Style: Expressionism / built 1978

Charles Haertling designed this pyramidal-shaped house for Charles and Sue Roitz. He was a professor at CU Boulder in the College of Fine Arts where he founded the department of photography. The 2-story house has a lower level of cast concrete walls supporting the shingle-clad pyramid above. A balcony wraps the east, south and west sides of the upper level. The house was designated as a landmark property in 2007.
