PORTO VECCHIO, with the fortress of St. Tecla built by the Genoese in the eighteenth century, along the coast of the city, in an area now used as gardens. The goal of this construction was not so much to create a defensive bulwark of the territory but to control, and if necessary counteract, the development of the Matuzian city.
