Dot is an abstract encaustic artist. She is intrigued by processes that reference the passage of time including fossilization, mineralization, weathering and erosion. Dot captures temporal landscapes through texture and color, in order to build surface topographies that reflect change over time. Encaustics is the art of painting with molten beeswax. Dot often incorporates fibers such as silk, cotton and wool into the wax to create and build texture. This gives her pieces a sculptural look.
