WALK of the EMPRESS,​ l​oved by tourists for its beautiful palm trees, Passeggiata Imperatrice - Empress Walk - in San Remo is a road dedicated to Tsarina Maria Alexandrovna, Empress of Russia, who used to spend long stays in the City of Flowers. The stays in Sanremo was so beneficial to the Empress that, as a reward, she wanted to donate a large sum to the Municipality of Sanremo to purchase the first palm trees and adorn the walk she frequently traveled.
