The Maynard family purchased this property, known as the Legg Homestead, in 1959. The house is the oldest house in the hamlet of Speedsville and once served as a stagecoach stop with a dance hall on the second floor. The barn was formerly used for milk cows. The Maynard farm also had two tall wood silos, which are common in this part of New York State, and a tool shed that was formerly a one-room schoolhouse moved from nearby Ekroos Road.
