As an artist Carolyn is in awe of the engineering marvel of bridges. The Sakonnet River Bridge and dozens of other bridges in New England are among her favorite subjects because their structures are open, revealing their inner geometry; and they frame the natural environment of their setting. Her use of perspective helps to convey their scale, and an imaginative color palette expresses their mood.
She applies the same principles to painting the working boats of New Bedford or a robin fledgling: perspective, color, mood.
Visitors often remark that the road to my studio is long and woodsy, but it's worth the drive when they see the beautiful view and the art on display. My studio is on the second floor and is accessed by a straight staircase. Restroom available.
