430 College Avenue / Charles and Berithea Bomgardner House / Architect: Hobart Wagener / Style: Frank Lloyd Wright ‘Usonian’ and Eichler / built 1963
This is one of the 10 homes that Hobart Wagener designed for the Keocoughtan Hills subdivision at the very western edge of College Avenue. The house design takes advantage of the downward sloping site to have the main entry and carport on the uphill side with the building stepping down with a lower floor on the downhill side. A generous balcony and floor-to-ceiling windows take advantage of the expansive views to the north. Wagener called this design a modern interpretation of a mountain 'Chalet’.
