435 College Avenue / Jane Dean Fightlin House / Architect: Hobart Wagener / Style: Frank Lloyd Wright ‘Usonian” / built 1961
Architect Hobart Wagener created a masterplan for a 10-house subdivision, named Keocoughtan Hills, as an extension of College Avenue around 1960. This is one of the first homes that was built in the subdivision. The asymmetrical roof shape and linear roof monitor is a modern interpretation of historic gold mills from the early days of Boulder County. The long ‘leg’ of the roof shelters a car port. Hobart Wagener designed the house to take advantage of the downward sloping site with a lower floor on the back side of the property. The living room is at the back / north side of the house, opening up with large windows to the expansive views.
