Will provide ongoing demonstrations throughout the Tour weekend. Galen loves to show how her work evolves and how layers can create colors and textures not readily available in other mediums. She enjoys the process and during her ongoing demos during the Tour season in her studio is always reminding her patrons that it is only glue and paper, no paint; and, that is it not a quick process! She also travels to Art venues during the year to do the same.

Paper Montage, an updated term for collage, is Galen's medium today. It starts with waves of color, shape and light; torn and cut papers layered to create her representational images from nature. She uses beautiful handmade and imported fine rice and flax papers to layer the background with color. If she does not find the exact color she desires, she makes it by gluing one color of paper over the other, creating the perfect hue with a depth of transparency she's not found with other mediums. She then uses high quality, opaque and textural publications, each cut individually to layer on top of the background. Each piece takes a minimum of 50-60 hours of work; sometimes extending into months if it is a larger piece, such as her land and seascapes. Many think she uses paint to enhance her work, but it is only glue and paper, or Paper Montage: "Painting with Paper."
My studio is at the back of my house, up the long driveway on the right before the big barn behind the house. Parking is well marked and off to the right to the side of the entrance to the studio, not in front of the barn.
