JP's are musings of a ageing man, always learning to paint, intensely fond of women (especially Betsy), children, dogs, cats, and the saltmarsh, woods, lakes, and mountains. As time scythes ever closer at his hurrying heels, he sees to touch the mystery beyond the seen, and the universe in a rotting stump.

D W Burns is an oil painter that enjoys the challenges that come with painting on location, to feel that ocean spray or smell the freshly turned soil on the hillside farm. She has adapted her skills to include a 3-color palette and a palette knife – which enable her to quickly capture the moment of beauty in nature that inspired her to paint it.

Her scenes are familiar but illustrated with her marks and brush strokes that bring a certain quality and clarity, drawing the viewer in, to see what she saw, to feel the essence of that place at that time. Dianne enjoys painting the landscapes that make up her neighborhood and considers all of New England to be her neighborhood. Whether she’s painting the fog in the harbors, the sunshine across the fields and marshes, or the slope of a mountain or hillside – her work is filled with traditional realism and painterly expression.

Being a plein air painter, Dianne is comfortable doing oil painting demonstrations. On many occasions on location, people will walk up, watch for a while. She greets the visitors while blocking in the scene on her toned canvas. She describes the actions she’s performing, explaining why she’s making certain marks, or the colors she is mixing. People are intrigued that she is able to get the beautiful turquoise blues and purples that she gets – starting only with the three primary colors. People enjoy seeing the painting come together, to see how the shapes evolve to become the finished landscape.

My studio # 25 is located in the front of the building through the doors on the left-side of the building. There is ample parking on the right and rear sides of the building, and restrooms available
