Information

650 Pennsylvania Street / Herbert and Lamar Noble House / Architect: Tician Papachristou and Charles Haertling / Style: Frank Lloyd Wright- Expressionist / built 1958

Except in winter, most of the house is screened from view from the public right of way. You can still catch a glimpse of one of the two pyramidal pavilions looking down the driveway. Papachristou and Haertling teamed on the design of this sculptural home for Herbert and Lamar Noble and their 4 children. The home has two pyramidal wings. These tent-like ‘pavilions’ are linked and are capped with skylights. The roof is composed of 16 identical triangles angling toward the ground. Inside the triangular geometry continues; the walls lean in at a low angle to become the ceiling. Remarkably almost every window is triangular, reinforcing the geometric concept of the house.
