Wildlife and wild places inspire me. Every painting of birds, fish, botanicals, sea or landscape is a lively meditation that focusses my technique. I love to exploit the dexterity of the medium: simultaneously bold and subtle, powerfully kinetic yet sublimely sensitive to color and form. I work acrylic in every capacity: diluted washes, translucent gel coats, brushed, spilled, poured, knifed, dragged opacities, and thickly pulled impasto textures lifting off my canvases. Together detailed draftsmanship and impressionistic abstractions synthesize an organic process and a nature inspired visual poetry.
