There is no evidence to substantiate the actual date of this building but it is assumed to be between 1801 & 1810. The owner Alexander Tennant went insolvent in 1806 and it was bought by John Osmond in 1807. During Osmonds ownership the cottage was used mainly as a storehouse. The land eventually passed into the hands and by 1919 Casparus Albertyn was renting the the cottage from a Mr Black. The Simon's Town Municipality bought the property in 1930. The cottage was let to various tenants and then scheduled for demolition, it was saved by the efforts of the Simon's Town Historical Society It has again been let to various tenants by the City of Cape Town Declared National Monument in Aug.,1979
