American Elm
Ulmaceae
Ulmus
Americana
Usually found amongst other deciduous trees in forests. The soil it grows in can be dry or moist. This particular American Elm is out in the open field, near my house. It can be seen as soon as you enter the driveway. It's easy to see since their is a tree trunk a few feet away and a big stone sticking out of the ground right by it. The American Elm is a species of tree that is becoming endangered due to a disease that has been decimating the species.
