The building is now home to Triad Associates, Inc., a civil engineering and architecture firm.

Behind the Barracks is the old fire station, now the Salt Spa.

Year Built: 1908

Architecture Style: Colonial Revival

Key Features:

  • Copula
  • Large Swing-Open Doors
  • Brick Construction

This building is the old fort fire station and is one of the earlier buildings at the fort, now the Salt Cave, where you can get salt spa treatments. Note the large swing-open doors. It originally housed horse-drawn fire wagons and served the entire fort. The copula on top was used as a fire watch. There was a 24/7 spotter because all buildings were heated by wood-burning and coal, and were thus greater fire hazards.
