Numerous organizations that operate on a global level are located in the Bertha von Suttner Building. The main organization is the Bertha von Suttner Peace Institute, named after the woman who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1905. At the time, she was committed to peace throughout the world and, together with her husband, came up with the initiative to establish a Permanent Court of Arbitration. start in The Hague. She sent reports of The Hague Peace Conference in 1899 to the Neue Freie Presse and to other newspapers in other countries, and the following year she wrote articles and started meetings to popularize the idea of the Permanent Court of Arbitration established by the conference.
