The Branford Green has been the center of the town’s religious and social life since the land was given to the town in 1699. The land was originally rough and hilly with lots of rocks. One large rock, the size of a small house, was located near the current Baptist church. The land was not cleared and flattened until 1873. The Green has seen many uses over the years from cow pasture and militia training to town carnivals, concerts and today’s Branford Festivals. We hope that this hunt will help you learn a little bit more about Branford’s history and this special place.
