Caixa Geral de Depósitos Building: CGD Olhão - architect Arq. Jorge Olive

Bank building located in front of the Av. da República, the main road in the city, on the oldest stretch corresponding to the Passeio Público de Olhão.

Designed (1953) in accordance with the prevailing 'classical' architectural style of the 'Estado Nova' submitted by 'state architect' Jorge Oliveira.

In submitting the preliminary design, his director noted that 'the exterior well reflects the character of a public and banking building', although he suggests more caution in the final design of the window and gate rails, which are considered vulnerable.
