William A. Bovard, (1929)

Exhibiting the hallmark vocabulary of the Art Deco style, the Carbide and Carbon Building was built in the era of the Great Depression, a period in Kansas City that, surprisingly, displayed unusual growth. William Hull, Barat A. Guignon and J. North Mehorney—all real estate tycoons—invested in the building.
