The boathouse, which stands proudly on Summit Street in Ithaca, was built between 1894 and 1896 to serve the Cascadilla School, a prestigious Cornell prep school that remains operational to this day. This magnificent structure has been honored with a well-deserved spot on the National Register of Historic Places. Thanks to the diligent efforts of Historic Ithaca, in partnership with the City of Ithaca, the exterior of the boathouse has undergone a transformation. The restoration work was made possible by a generous grant of $367,000 from the New York State Environment Protection Fund. As a result of this meticulous restoration, the boathouse continues to serve its original purpose by housing the Cascadilla Boat Club, a remarkable non-profit organization that offers rowing classes and training to enthusiastic crews.
