Underneath the concrete pad off the northeast corner of Cedar lodge is a 20,000-gallon water tank. This tank is a heat reservoir for the Craftsbury Outdoor Center’s waste-heat recovery system. Heat from our wood-fired boilers, solar hot water panels, as well as the operation of our diesel snowmaking generator is collected into the tank for storage and distribution to buildings around campus. The photo shows the instruments that monitor and distribute the hot water across the campus.
