The Choctaw County Genealogical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to collecting, archiving, preserving and sharing genealogical and historical information about Choctaw County, Oklahoma.
CCGS is dedicated to genealogical research by providing a place to research, maintaining and preserving local records, volunteer assistance, quarterly newsletters and community projects.
They currently have three long-term community projects.
Veteran Project
Our Veteran Project is two-fold. First, we are attemping to identify and honor all Choctaw County Veterans, past or present, on our online Veteran Memorial. Second, they are working with the Red River Valley Veterans Memorial in Paris, Texas to identify Choctaw County Veterans that qualify for their Ring of Honor and Wall of Honor.
Cemetery Project
The Cemetery Project has many facets as well. They are re-enumerating and photographing all Choctaw County cemeteries and burials in an attempt to document and preserve the burial information.
Preservation of Choctaw County Information Project
This project is dedicated to collecting and archiving Choctaw County information and records that pose genealogical and/or historical significance to Choctaw County and displaying that information free online on the OKCHOCTA site.
