More than 200 men from Branford served in the Civil War. This impressive monument was built by the Grand Army of the Republic (a Union Army veterans’ group) as a lasting memorial to those who died. It was dedicated in 1885. The monument is made of granite and is over 30-feet tall with the figure of the soldier on top standing 7 feet 4 inches.
Question: The monument recognizes eight Civil War battles where Branford men fought. What are the names of two of those battles?
