This is an example of what is known as a "shot-gun" cottage due to it's straight-thru arrangment of rooms. Cottages were initally tent sites the families returned to year after year when attending week-long camp meetings in the summer months. Usually, kitchens were constructed to be a more permanents structure, then the rest of the permanent cottage structure was built on to it bit-by-bit. This creates multi-level roof lines as can be seen on numerous cottages today. There are 47 cottages standing today.
