The cougar is large in size with a powerful, slender, build. Its long tail makes up more than half of its body length. A generally solitary cat, cougars only join up to mate. Kittens are born with spotted coats to help them blend into their habitat. These carnivores have a diet of moose, elk, deer, and fish and on average live for 20-25 years. They can be up to 8 feet long.
