Cuban crocodiles are endemic to Cuba. Using powerful tail thrusts, they can leap from the water to catch prey from overhanging tree branches. They sometimes hunt as a pack, making them especially dangerous. As a top predator in its environment, the Cuban crocodile is a keystone species. They have been hunted to near extinction with their numbers rapidly decreasing. While they currently only live in Cuba, fossil evidence shows that they at once point could be found throughout The Bahamas, Hispaniola, and the Cayman Islands.
