Information

The Order of Freemasons originated in England in 1717. The Dutch branch of Freemasonry (Grootloge) became independent in 1756 and is one of the oldest associations in the Netherlands.

Freemasonry is based on everyone's right to independently search for truth, strives for the general brotherhood between people, cultivates tolerance, looks for what unites people and nations and tries to remove divisions.

Freemasonry is active all over the world except for communist and some Islamic countries. Well-known Freemasons are: George Washington, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt.
