Ecological restoration is the process of assisting the recovery of an ecosystem that has been degraded, damaged, or destroyed. The north side of the Nature Preserve is currently undergoing an ecological restoration where invasive species such as Brazilian Pepper and Shoebutton Ardisia have been removed with the help of TREEmendous Miami volunteers and naturalist interns under the FIU Office of University Sustainability.
