The Netherlands recognized Ukraine on December 31, 1991, together with other EU member states. On April 1, 1992, diplomatic relations were established through an exchange of diplomatic notes. There is cooperation between Ukraine and the Netherlands in the field of education, economy and culture.
In 2018, Ambassador V. Chentsov took part in the dispatch of 8 truckloads of humanitarian aid to the poor parts of Ukraine, totaling 100 tons of medical equipment, white goods, school supplies, clothes and toys.
