At the end of the dam you will be back at the parking lot. Thank you for joining the Tour.
If you are interested in more Mason area nature walks, there are two trails that start from this area. At the left of the dam is a paved path that leads down the hill. At the end of this path is wooden bridge that leads to an unpaved trail through the woods along the side of the creek that drains from the lake. Along this path you might be treated to see footprints in the mud from deer, raccoons and even a coyote. At the right of the dam is a paved path that connects up with the Muddy Creek Greenway bike path. The Muddy Creek Greenway is a project by the City to help manage flood control and water quality by restoring the Muddy Creek to a more natural stream. Along the Greenway you will see areas with native plantings to help control erosion that make great wildlife habitat (COMEBP, 2010).
