The Ewell Butler Golf Course opened in 1952. The club started out with 46 members. Membership costs were $10 per person. The first Marshall County Open was held at the Ewell Butler Golf Course in 1952. Bob Eaves won the Marshall County Open in 1958, beating out D.B. Minor and Jeff Fields. Today, the Ewell Butler Golf Course has over 150 members with 103 personal cart storage spaces. As of 2015, Andy Cook holds the 9 hole course record with a 28. The record was previously held by Randy Woodward and Al Vore.
