Created By: Historic Boulder, Inc.
2111 Arapahoe Avenue/ Heinzman & Kindig architect/ Rustic Modern style/ built 1964
Originally designed as a doctor’s clinic, the building was used for Naropa University offices.
Developer Rick White demolished this building in 2024 to make way for a Buddhist meditation space related to Naropa University. Since the demolition occured, Naropa sold their camous to another developer that is planning to building 'market-rate' residences. Now that Naropa is not going to be a neighbor developer White's plans seem in doubt. With this demolition, Boulder has lost another physical manifestation of the innovative spirit of the community.
The design of the building was split between a lower base level, horizontal in orientation and clad in painted brick, and an upper floor which has a repetitive and unique design element of triangular vertical pilasters with windows. It is clad in wood shake shingles.
