The FIU Felberg Veterans Plaza opened on Veterans Day 2017. The statue at the center of the plaza is of U.S. Marine Paul Michael Felsberg, who volunteered for a second tour of duty in Iraq after his fellow officer had been killed in action. Officer Felsberg graduated from FIU in 2003 with a degree in criminal justice. This plaza is dedicated to the family of Michael Felsberg, as well as all of the other servicemen and women in the FIU community.
